So there’s the “dream” car... like an F40 or an F1.. . But what is your G OA L car? You know, something you might see yourself when you land that cush job, finally get that big promotion, or rob a local credit union.
I have a 1a and 1b. 1b is couldn’t be more obvious... the LC500.
But just a notch above that... The Lotus Evora S.
Now... I don’t have any rich relatives and virtually all of my money will probably be funneled towards other life things, stuff that matters more (I GUESS) ... But I hope to live long enough to enjoy something extravagant and impractical before the bell tolls.

I don’t really have one. I’m an engineer and I don’t ever want to be management, so that “big promotion” (what, man, are you still living in the 1960s?) ain’t gonna happen. the bikes are my toys.

I dont know anymore. For the longest time, I’ve wanted the F-Type R (pre-2016) or a Cayman GTS (981).
After the E39 M5, I need something that is as small or smaller than the Cayman but sounds as loud inside the cabin. Because the M5 has a lot of sound deadening. I don’t know anything like that in existence.
My goal right now is a winter beater.
I want a wagon or a small SUV/Truck. Like a ‘99 RAV4.
I’d actually love some suggestions for a winter beater.

I’m here, so... prepare for the wall of text.
Draco.
Draco’s the name that’ll go on the badges. The internal code name I’ve been using is “chili_too_hot”. It’s a reference to this . One that most people just don’t get.
Draco is not a car you can buy with money, or you can build from a parts catalog. 1986 Daytona TurboZ C/S body, because it has the lowest C/D (and looks the best.) And that’s... about all that stays stock.
Oh, sure, she keeps a 2.2 motor. Except
turned 90 degrees. See, the G24 chassis is direct conversion from FWD to RWD. No cutting involved. Replace K-frame, install axle, go. But that assumes an LA block V8 and a live rear axle.
And that? Well, the V8's something old Carroll would do for sure. But the rest, not a chance. He would not make something handle worse. That’s just unacceptable.
And that’s why Draco ain’t getting built any time soon. Because it involves completely re-engineering fundamental crash structures
without
altering body work to handle full multi-link o
ut back and up front. That’s beyond my ability to design on paper. Even with measurements. Same for any aero tweaking.. the 86 body is actually really great there. Hard to improve. The rear spoiler is effective above ~95MPH.
That’s before dealing with the cost. Power might be a 2.2 turbo, but it is not like any 2.2 you’ve seen before or will ever see after I build it. 2.2 CB shortblock, but with a Cosworth/Maserati 16v, and a great deal many more internal modifications. Using a 4+4 none-active
MPFI
injector setup on a sigma-lambda algorithm controlled by MoTec
. (TL;DR - 8 injectors, only 1 firing by default, with the +X+Y
fired based on the
sum
of the O2 and all other inputs
.) Plus full electronic control of boost and bypass for dial-a-yield.
Transmission is nothing too fancy at least. Tremec TR6060 probably, but depends on torque, as I’d prefer the lighter weight of the Getrag 6MTI550.
The net result? Around 2700-2800lbs, 225-500HP, true RWD, bulletproof durability, and a skidpad that will destroy literally anything street legal. And quite a few things that aren’t .
BoxerFanatic, troublesome iconoclast.

Porsche Cayman, preferably GT4 or Boxster Spyder.

I truly do not post this wishing to brag. I’ve been extremely fortunate and now am able to enjoy it, for a while at least.
Getting to buy a brand new car of any sort was a goal of mine. So my GTI checked that box.
Getting to ‘own’ a Lexus was the next goal. My NX 300 F-Sport butchered that sports metaphor. I only have the NX because I work at my dealership and have qualified to get a subsidized lease.
As a car enthusiast I am always looking for the next cool ride, but I am very aware that I have it made right now, and I try to be grateful for the really nice things I already have.
I encourage you all to just keep up your efforts. You never know where life will take you. But hard work and dedication will eventually yield positive results. Or, we'll
all be killed. Life's funny that way...

Goal Car:
S2000. I’m losing weight so in about 30 more pounds I’ll be able to drive one comfortably for more than an hour . Good ones are going up in value and I’m going to be teaching, so I might have to find one to restore. But still... the ones I’ve driven were amazing. If I can find one in Grand Prix white with red interior I will be in love.
The stretch goal will be a 997 Turbo. Manual of course. That will be my “ Dr. Steve Ph.D got a six-figure university job” car.

I’ll own a Porsche one day, but no sooner than 5 years from now, and it may have to wait until I’m 50+ . Requirements are manual, NA, in an interesting color. If the fates shine brightly, it will be a GT4 or 991.2 GT3. Short of that I’d be very happy with a 991 S or 4S or a 981 Cayman S or GTS.

An Austin Healey 100/6 Works Rally (probably replica)
This along with my Sprite and GTo would be the perfect car. I would probably end up letting the GTO sit because I would want to drive this beauty every day. A regular 100/6 isn’t really too expensive and making my own “works” wouldn’t be too costly if I do the work myself. The real ones are pushing $110k so that is out of the league of cushy job.
But classic looks, well built powerful inline 6, and all the amenities you “need” I would be beyond happy. It is my THE car for me.
ps. I suppose I wouldn’t be too unhappy with importing a TVR

Volcano gray, black perforated leather seats w/ventilation (a must have!) and heating, black window trim and roof rails, carplay, RS Spyder wheels, moonroof, and possibly keyless entry.
Waiting for the 2019 as it will have the new fancy PCM and new V6 engines.
Missus wants an SUV, so I promised to get one before I upgraded my toy. We’ll sell the allroad when the Macan arrives.
A new 4S/GTS ST is my goal, but if I fall short, Porsche has plenty of fun newer cars for me to consider (I love the 991.2, and the 718 GTS )

Yep, those wheels are a must.
After getting extended about of seat time in a Macan, I felt that it is perfectly enjoyable on a daily basis without all the extra performance options. I love those in a 911, but they’re not necessary in a CUV.
